Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
