The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure About Sizing Updates

Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Response

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.

Measurement Approach Updates

Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
